‘The light is always lovely where I am from.’
Alasdair McLellan returns to Doncaster, South Yorkshire to discuss how the landscape of his youth continues to inform his work.

Alasdair McLellan started his life as a photographer in 1987. Back then, he was photographing friends outside the local chip shop. Today, he’s shooting campaigns for glossy magazines and luxury labels, such as Miu Miu, Loewe, and Louis Vuitton.
It’s no surprise that he’s the go-to photographer for brands that are resolutely British, such as Christopher Kane, and Margaret Howell when you hear how his hometown, in rural England, continues to inform his practice. Revisit our interview with McLellan for System No. 4 to find out how.
