By Hans Ulrich Obrist
Photographs by Jamie Hawkesworth and styling by Marie-Amélie Sauvé
Hubert de Givenchy was in a hurry to make a name for himself, launching his own label aged 24, in 1952. He retired in 1995, leaving the creative direction of the house in the hands of fashion incendiaries, Galliano, McQueen, and today, Riccardo Tisci.
Hans Ulrich Obrist meets the man, an indisputable legend, to discuss the highs and lows of his career and the changing cultural landscape.
